Students in the SPICE II classroom are close to grade level in academics, use communication independently, have adaptive skills that are close to age appropriate, and model and show an interest in peer activities. Inclusion experiences are prevalent with minimal adult support required. Instruction and support for group learning of social skills, language concepts, emotional regulation, and academics is available in the SPICE classroom.

About Me

My name is Mison Chew, I live in Mesa, but I am originally from the island of Guam. I've been in Arizona for 15 years with my husband and 2 boys.  I am the SPICE II teacher here at Meridian where I work with students with learning disabilities specifically with Autism. For the last couple years I have had the privilege to work with the students in the Autism program and I find the students to be so genuine. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University in 2008 and my Master's degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University in 2016. I am a life long learner and I like to find topics that interest me and dig deeper. Balancing a career, family and a personal life is challenging, but I wouldn't change it for the world. Prior to teaching Special Education I taught 6th grade for 8 years at Val Vista Lakes Elementary. Prior to teaching I was a stay at home mom and worked at my family restaurant when I lived on Guam. In my free time, I love to cook, spend time with my family and travel and I also love to run and workout.
