Roxanne Gillespie - Art

Roxanne Gillespie

Art/K-6 grade
Room: 113

In art class, using Gilbert Public School's approved scope and sequence, the students are taught about the elements and principles of art.  Each quarter we practice using different mediums using the same approved scope and sequence. The mediums we practice with for example are:
First quarter: Drawing
Second quarter: Painting
Third quarter 3D forms
Forth quarter mixed mediums i.e. collage.

Every year we have an art show hosted by Norwood Furniture store.  This is a great opportunity to display the best of the best art work from the year created by our talented artists.  I will post the dates soon.

This year we are also working on having a night of the arts in January in order for all students to display their beautiful art framed by Artome.  More details about this event coming soon!
Again thank you so much for letting me work with your little artists!

About Me:

Hello.  My name is Roxanne Gillespie.

I am so excited to be working with your little artists this year!  This is my 22nd year working for Gilbert Public Schools and my 7th year at Meridian Elementary.  I am a proud native of this great state of Arizona.  I have lived here all my life.  I attended ASU and received my bachelors in Art Education there.

I have always loved art.  It has been a big part of my life.  I believe art can teach us so much about ourselves and the beautiful world we live in.  I have been married for 21 years and my husband is an Artist as well.  We have 3 beautiful children that are growing up too fast. I love teaching art!  Your children remind me every day why teaching is so worthwhile!
